Event in Cyprus to get to know each other and meet needs

On May 24, 2024, the WHOW program, organized by SYNTHESIS Center for Research and Education, held a “Shadowing Event” and “Piloting Workshop” at the University of Cyprus. Co-hosted by the University’s Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Office, the event aimed to support new mothers in their personal and professional development.

This full-day session brought together 20 participants, including 11 new mothers, university staff, and professionals from the social and childcare sectors. The event featured a mix of lectures, interactive exercises, and inspirational stories.

Expert speakers, including psychologists and senior university officers, provided valuable insights into topics such as psychological resilience, childcare, and employability skills.

Participants found the workshop highly beneficial, with many expressing appreciation for the relevance and practicality of the content. The interactive sessions were particularly well-received, helping new mothers build critical skills while fostering a sense of community.

A cocktail networking session at the end of the event allowed participants to connect and share experiences. While the event was successful, some challenges were noted. Time constraints limited the depth of discussions, and catering to the diverse needs of the participants required a broad range of activities. Moving forward, extending workshop durations and offering specialized sessions to address specific needs would enhance the experience.

Overall, the WHOW program succeeded in providing new mothers with tools to balance their professional and personal lives. The event demonstrated the importance of ongoing support for women, helping them regain confidence and skills as they navigate motherhood and their careers.
